My response to this is 'B******S!'  I know, drastic and quite possibly uncalled for, but when such 'reliable' sources begin to claim such things as this, it literally drives me mad.

Honestly, how they have the ordasity to say that women no longer have an interest in anime and manga, without even providing any sources for this outrageous claim, God only knows.  For starters, what do they think happened to the female population who already had an interest in anime etc?  Oh, wait, perhaps Godzilla or the Cloverfield monster consumed them, those pesky critters!

 It astounds me that they would make this claim.  For starters, I have many female friends who LOVE anime and manga, in fact, only one of my female friends doesn't...I know, pity her.  Not only that, but HELL, I'm female and I love the stuff.  This comment is as unfounded as 'Women don't play computer games'.   If women don't play computer games, please, explain to me why I own every next-gen console, and why during my time in a video games store, over 40% of my customers were female.

 So, I ask, please, all you girls/women out there who love anime, join up and be counted against these so called statistics.  If people believe that we are a dying breed lets prove them wrong...I promise, no bra burning - Emaline Pankhurt would spin in her grave.

For the guys out there reading this, you too can show your support - tell us about any female friends you have that like anime and manga, help us prove a point that the statement in that magazine was placed purely to grab the attention of readers, with no factual information at all.

Also, just as a note, I'm not being a feminist - I just don't want people to discount us so readily.
