This is what annoys me about the UK Anime dvd's business. We get the dvd's much later than ther countries, we get involved, interested, sometimes addicted to a series, and then they tell us that we are not going to get to see the next volume until 3 months after the release of the previous.
It's ridiculous! Absolutely...they do this to the anime fans all over the UK, and there are more of us than people assume, and then, to make matters worse, they tell compnaies in the UK, "You can't import that, it has to be rated by the BBFC in order to sell them in the UK" it's insane, a 'proper' business can't sell the dvd's in the UK, but set up an ebay account and thats completely fine.
This is what causes such issues with new anime stores these days, it actually pays to do things through the back door...its insane, this is what the UK government wants? Or would they prefer to be able to monitor people selling these dvd's in a legit way? The issue actually revolves around money. Go to America, buy a dvd for $19, come to the UK, buy the same dvd for £19.99...it all comes down to publishers wanting to make as much money from a title as possible.
You can understand why, but really, it shows that such publishers have no loyalty to their customers, they are happy as long as they are lining their pockets...it's a very cynical view of it all, but that's how I feel, that's how I have been led to feel and what I have been led to believe simply by the way that publishers treat the UK as an anime fanbase.
